Mail Preparation & Presort: everything between the printed run and the mailbox
Mail preparation is the work between a printed run and a mailed job: addresses on the pieces, tabs on folded mailers, envelopes inserted and sealed, and the whole mailing sorted the way the post office wants it. It is for a business that wants its mailing to go out at presort rates.

We hold the mailing permit
Our USPS permit lets a mailing go with a permit imprint at presort rates, so you do not have to hold a permit of your own.
Sealed to postal rules
Wafer seals and tabs hold a folded self-mailer closed, so the post office accepts it and it arrives in one piece.
It leaves from here
The finished mailing goes to the post office with its paperwork, so you are not the one at the counter with a crate.
Mail Preparation & Presort: questions
What is presort, and why does it cost less?
Presorted mail arrives at the post office already sorted and bundled in the order it will be delivered, so it needs less handling at their end. They charge less for it. There is a minimum number of pieces before a mailing qualifies, so a small run goes at the ordinary rate instead. Tell us how many you are sending and we will say which side of the line you are on.
How do the addresses get onto my piece?
We inkjet them straight onto the printed piece from the list you give us, so there is no label to peel and line up. A folded mailer also gets wafer seals or tabs along the open edge, because the post office will not carry a folded piece that can flap open. Anything going in an envelope is inserted and sealed here.
What do you need from me to start?
Your address list, the piece itself or the print order for it, and a note on whether it folds, goes in an envelope or mails on its own. Tell us how many you are mailing and roughly which ZIP codes the list covers, because that shapes the sort. We confirm your date when we send the quote.
