Canvas Stretching & Framing: questions
What is the difference between a gallery wrap and a museum wrap?
In a gallery wrap the image continues around the edges of the bars, so the sides are part of the picture and no frame is needed. In a museum wrap the image stops at the front face and the edges are a solid color, which suits work you plan to frame or where the composition runs to the edge.
Can you stretch a canvas I already have, or print and stretch my file?
Both. Bring in a rolled canvas and we mount it on kiln-dried pine bars at the depth you choose. Or upload your image and we print it on canvas, check the file for resolution and color first, then stretch it. For large pieces up to 60 inches, heavy-duty bars keep the canvas taut.
How do I order canvas stretching and what should I tell you?
Order one piece at a time and tell us the finished size, the wrap style (gallery, museum or rolled canvas mounting), the bar depth and any finishing: protective coating, wire hanging, corner protectors, float mounting or a custom frame with museum glass. Work is ready in 5 business days.
