An impression you can feel
Letterpress pushes ink into the paper rather than sitting on top, so every line has depth as well as color.
Thick cotton takes the press
Soft cotton stock in 18pt or 32pt has the depth to hold a strong impression without showing through on the back.
Old craft, your design
Send a modern layout or a classic one; letterpress suits clean type, line art and one- or two-color marks best.
Letterpress Business Cards: questions
Should I add a coating to letterpress business cards?
Most letterpress cards are left uncoated so the impression and the cotton texture stay visible and touchable; that is the option we recommend. If you want a little protection, matte is the least likely to fill in the impression. Gloss and soft touch are available but flatten the effect.
What kind of artwork works for letterpress?
Solid vector shapes, type and line art print best. Build the file at 3.5" x 2" with 0.125" bleed and a 0.125" safe zone, keep lines at least 0.5pt thick, and avoid photos, gradients and large solid floods, which letterpress cannot reproduce evenly.
How many letterpress cards can I order, and when are they ready?
Runs are 100, 250, 500, 1,000 or 2,500 per design. We suggest a run that will last you a while: 250 or 500 for one person, 1,000 or more for a firm. Cards are ready in 5 business days once your artwork clears our file check.
