Clears the size rule
At 6.5 inches tall the card counts as a flat, which is what a route mailing has to be.
A proven mail format
6.5 x 9 is one of the common route-mailing formats, big enough to notice and simple to lay out.
Both sides, five stocks
Print front and back on 14pt gloss, 14pt matte, 16pt matte, 13pt linen or 18pt kraft.
EDDM Postcards (6.5" × 9"): questions
Why is 6.5 x 9 used for route mailings?
Because it clears the flat requirement. A mailpiece counts as a flat when it is more than 6.125 inches tall, more than 11.5 inches long or more than a quarter inch thick, and 6.5 inches of height puts this card over the first of those three.
Where does the address area go on the card?
Reserve part of one side for the address block and the indicia, and keep your own artwork and text out of that area. Everything else needs 0.125 inch of bleed at the edges and 0.125 inch of clearance inside the trim so no type is cut off.
Do I need a mailing list to send these?
No. A route mailing goes to every address on the carrier routes you pick, so you are choosing neighborhoods instead of names. Give us the routes and a quantity between 100 and 2,500, and the cards are ready in 5 business days after your file is checked.
